THE LECTURES

Judge Clifford P. Smith, who delivered a lecture on Christian Science under the auspices of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston, Mass., in the church edifice, at Falmouth, Norway, and St. Paul streets, was introduced by the first reader of The Mother Church, John C. Lathrop, who said:—

A study of the history and development of the world, and of Christianity in particular, shows that periodical reforms have awakened and advanced the thought of mankind step by step down to the present age, when human thought is found to be prepared for the greatest mental and moral advance in human history. This last progression, represented by Christian Science, is therefore a most orderly and inevitable awakening, and it is rapidly coming to be thus understood by the thinking world.

Christ Jesus said: "I am the door," but it has remained for Christian Science to comprehend and interpret this simple utterance, to unlock and to open this universal entrance to eternal life and heaven's kingdom; and none realize this so well as the countless beneficiaries of Christian Science, who know that their mental and physical liberation has been wrought as the result of their discovery of and entrance into this spiritual door, which to them means more than ever before the way to practical salvation, the way to a present understanding of the divine Principle of life, and of God's healing and saving laws.—Christian Science Monitor.
