THANKSGIVING FOR THE MONITOR

Christian Scientists have become so accustomed to the hourly giving of thanks for the innumerable blessings constantly unfolding in their lives, that in conforming to the general practise of allotting a certain day for the enjoyment of a season of thanksgiving, they very naturally recall not only the accumulated blessings of the year, but many reasons for special thankfulness at this time. One of this faith, therefore, can but remember with gratitude that among the many blessings Mrs. Eddy has bestowed upon mankind, not the least is her beneficent act in discerning the world's need of a better class of daily newspaper, and devising The Christian Science Monitor, which had its first issue at this season four years ago, as the proponent of this new order of journalistic achievement.

That which contributes to the welfare and happiness of mankind in a substantial and enduring way, deserves the support of all right-thinking people, and that which is related to or based upon truth, invariably blesses all with whom it has to do. As Shakespeare has so well said of the quality of mercy, that
