The effort to live up to the high ideal as taught by Christ Jesus...
Fond du Lac (Wis.) Reporter
The effort to live up to the high ideal as taught by Christ Jesus is the daily work of Christian Scientists who are striving to follow the commands of the Master. They believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and are endeavoring to follow in his footsteps by healing the sick and saving the sinner. In overcoming the difficulties which they encounter they are made stronger, and in striving to manifest more of that Mind which was also in Christ Jesus they are enabled to do in a degree the works he commanded his followers to do.
As to being "untried and unproven," the beneficiaries of Christian Science can tell of the physical healing, moral reformation, and spiritual regeneration which come to them through its teachings and application, and surely their report should have more weight than the words of one who assails it. Mrs. Eddy tried and proved the system which she has taught her followers before she published her text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by healing the sick and reforming the sinner; and if the healing and reformation brought about through the application of the teachings of Christian Science are products of any "human religious contraption," the world would be better for more of this kind of religion, which is truly the religion of God as taught by Christ Jesus.
