It is one year and nine months since I heard of Christian Science. A friend invited myself and husband to go to the Sunday evening service. We did so, and were interested. I wished to know more about it, so we went to the Wednesday night meeting to hear the testimonies of healing. I did not come to Christian Science for the healing, but I knew I had not enough faith, and I believed the day of the so-called miracles was past; but when I heard the testimonies of those who had been healed, I saw that this healing power was for all time, that Christ is "the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever." After the service I borrowed a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and read and reread it. It made me think of Christ in the days of old, meeting with his disciples and opening to them the Scriptures. I had loved the Bible from very early years and strove to follow its teaching, but now I prize it more than ever. It has brought divine Love nearer to me, and has taught me how to take up the cross and follow Christ.

I have proved this healing power of Truth for myself. I had a very bad rupture, which could not be cured by medical treatment. I am seventy years of age, and the doctor said this was against me. I was not acquainted with a Christian Scientist, but I went to see one of the readers of the church and told her of my trouble. She kindly offered to help me, and after spending a little time in silent prayer, she encouraged me by saying that all would be well. A day or two after, to my surprise, I did not need my appliance—I was healed! That is eighteen months ago, and I can lift any weight without fear. I had rheumatic fever in 1863, and have suffered from rheumatism, gout, and severe neuralgia since that time, but this too has been overcome, and any slight disorder that appears is overcome by divine Love, which meets all our needs. I had a stomach trouble which made me afraid to eat many things, but "perfect love" is casting out all fear and I can now eat anything I like without harm. I have also been healed of severe bladder trouble in one treatment, and have had no return of it.

My husband is rejoicing with me in this truth. We are happy in the consciousness that divine Love will help us to overcome all error. We are grateful for all these blessings. In the words of our Leader (Science and Health, Pref., p. vii): "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite today is big with blessings."
