THE LECTURES

Filling the first floor of Greene's Opera House, a large and interested audience, last night [Oct. 9] listened to Judge Clifford P. Smith, of Boston, Mass., lecture on Christian Science. He was introduced by Glenn M. Averill, who said in part,—

Friends, we have asked you here tonight to listen to a lecture on Christian Science, because we have something that in these times of financial, political, and religious unrest helps us in our business, makes us better citizens, and brings us peace and happiness, and we are minded to share this good with you if you so desire. Christian Science is not a series of ceremonies that can be performed for you by another, it is something that each must take and think about for himself and manifest in his life, and it is certain that as a man "thinketh in his heart, so is he."
