Strangely
enough, after nearly half a century of healing work done by Christian Science, and the records of thousands of cures accomplished by its means, a question has been raised by critics as to whether the teaching of Christian Science is a menace to the health of the community.
The
thought has come to the writer on many occasions as to whether Christian Scientists are awake to realize what a rich legacy their revered Leader has bequeathed to humanity in her published works.
I tell
the toll of human weal and woe,While the wing-footed ages come and go:When the night dews are shaken,Soon as the sun doth waken,Hasting his footstep o'er the twinkling seaHe seeks the rose and me.
As Christian Scientists we believe the commands of Jesus were meant for all of his followeres, and that the command to heal the sick is no less imperative than that to preach the gospel.
Christian Science declares God to be Spirit, Soul, Mind, Life, Truth, Love; the sole cause of the universe, the only self-existent, all-knowing, all-wise Being.
In
these days of competitive sensationalism in the newspaper field, it sometimes seems as if all consideration for the home life of the people has been lost sight of in the efforts made by the newspapers to outdo each other in reporting the scandalous and salacious details of some case which happens to be on trial or in the exploitation of some crime that has been committed.
The little bungalow church built by the Christian Scientists of this city is completed, and the first service in the new building will be held on Sunday morning, Nov.
