As Christian Scientists we believe the commands of Jesus were meant for all of his followeres, and that the command to heal the sick is no less imperative than that to preach the gospel.

For one not a practical Christian Scientist to assume to declare how a Christian Scientist heals, is rather presumptuous. Healing is accomplished through the divine power, not "through the power of mind over matter." Had the afflicted woman Jesus referred to as one "whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years," gone to a physician to have the case diagnosed, he might have pronounced it rheumatism or some other bodily disorder. Jesus said Satan had bound her, showing that he diagnosed sickness from a spiritual standpoint.

"Freely ye have received, freely give," which is the last clause of the text, this critic says is seldom if ever practised by Christian Scientists. Christian Science churches all over the world are built and supported by free-will offerings of Christian Scientists and those interested. The services on Sunday and Wednesday night are open to everybody. All are welcome.
