[Written for the Sentinel.]

OPPOSING VIEWS

Friends and loved ones from you parted,
Are you sad and lonely-hearted,
Longing for the days now flown?
Does your heart grow weak and weary?
Does the way seem long and dreary,
Since you've trod the path alone?

Alone? With Love divine beside me?
The pathway long, with Him to guide me?
Alone? No, surely never;
His presence with me ever,
No power can part or sever
True love from Love divine.

My heart knows only joy, thanksgiving;
There is no death, my love is living;
Heav'n is not won by dying.
My God is Love. Denying
All other power, relying
Upon His word, I live.
