I wish to express my gratitude for the understanding of...

I wish to express my gratitude for the understanding of God and of man's relation of him, which I have attained through the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, together with the study of the Bible. I realize that I am only a beginner, but I have learned that "progress is the law of God" (Science and Health, p. 233), and therefore as I outgrow material beliefs and know more of the spiritual sense of being, greater enlightenment will follow.

Many ills have been overcome, both for myself and different members of our family, through the application of divine Truth, as taught in Christian Science; but although freedom from physical bondage is something for which to be very grateful, much greater is freedom from the bondage of false consciousness, from pride, self-will, self-righteousness, selfishness; in other words, that false world of belief in something apart from God, good. Christian Science is truly teaching us how to be free from this false consciousness and to gain the understanding of the truth as revealed to this age through Mrs. Eddy, the truth which Jesus taught. My gratitude for this revelation can only be expressed by deeds. I am also grateful for the periodicals; for the healthful, helpful, and pure news which we receive daily from the Monitor; the message of Truth received weekly from the Sentinel; and the Journal, which blesses us monthly. Christian Science is to me that fount of living waters which cries to every one that thirsteth, "Come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price."

Mrs. Margaret B. Merrill, Jackson, Miss.
