Complete publicity of the affairs of great corporations, coupled with rigid laws defining the character of legitimate corporation business, will solve the trust problem in the United States, according to Elbert H.

THE CHURCH READER

Consideration of the subject of readers for our churches may and properly should begin with reference to the provisions of the Manual of The Mother Church concerning readers in branch churches; namely, Section 6 of Article III, which among other things stipulates that "these readers shall be members of The Mother Church.

"E PLURIBUS UNUM."

History teaches that a nation is seldom conquered by an enemy coming against it from without, so long as the people practise among themselves a large measure of righteousness, justice, virtue, humanity; and for the reason that right doing, justice, chastity, humanity, is the foundation of unity, and this unity gives strength and stability.

"HAVING THE HARPS OF GOD."

In no one thing is the heaven-born mission of Christian Science more truly attested than in the spiritual joy which is the immediate result of each demonstration of the power of good over the apparent power of evil.

STUDYING THE BIBLE

On first coming into Christian Science, a difficulty is sometimes felt by persons with much time on their hands as to how to dispose of it.

LESSONS FROM THE KEYBOARD

In watching the development of children at the piano, one learns many valuable lessons.
In a recent issue of your paper there is a report of an address given in Tor parish church.
In what he termed "a sermon that will please nobody," the Rev.
A press despatch quotes a prominent Unitarian minister as declaring Christian Science to be "a menace to the country and to national life" and "a fanaticism.
While appreciating the reverend gentleman's commendation of that which he can approve in Christian Science, we must enter a protest against being held up to the world as a stumbling-block to human progress.

THE LAW OF SERVICE

The fields are white for harvest,But the laborers are few.

"BE YE THEREFORE PERFECT."

When Jesus said, in his sermon on the mount, "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect," he placed a high standard before his followers, a standard seemingly impossible of attainment, from the human view-point, and yet one entirely in keeping with the Master's teaching and with his own demonstration of spiritual understanding and power.
In the prophecy of Isaiah we read: "Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies.

ESCAPE FROM THE SEEMING

Every man knows, and most men would concede, not only that falsity is valueless, but that it is a deception and a snare which when clung to leads inevitably to moral degradation and disaster.

THE LECTURES

Virgil O.
Two years ago a neighbor called to spend the evening at my home, and that I was suffering with a severe headache.
It has been my desire for some time to testify to the great benefits which have come to me in Christian Science.
I should like to express my deep gratitude for what God through Christian Science has done for me.

For ten years I was under the care of physicians, and was a constant sufferer the last years of my illness.
I feel it to be a duty to testify to my healing in Christian Science of a severe illness; namely, nervous exhaustion ans stomach trouble.
I wish to give expression to my gratitude to God for Christian Science, and to our dear Leader, through whom this saving truth has been given us.
I am very glad to testify to the efficacy of the healing work done in Christian Science.
I give this testimony with gratitude and thanks for all that Christian Science has done for me.
Words are incapable of expressing our deepest thoughts; and I pause, thinking what I can say to declare my gratitude to God, the giver of all good; but in the earnest hope that what I write will be for the help of some brother in need, I send this testimony.

I wish to express my gratitude for the understanding of God and of man's relation of him, which I have attained through the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs.
