I wish to express my gratitude for all the good which has come to me since I began the study of Christian Science, over five years ago. I was then suffering from a serious nervous condition, which manifested itself in various ways, chief among which was a partial paralysis. For a period of three years I tried various material remedies, but without permanent relief. While in a distant city, I asked for Christian Science treatment, and received the help I was seeking; in less than a dozen treatments the twitching and paralysis of the face entirely disappeared and has never returned.

This manifestation of the power of Christian Science convinced me that I had found the truth which would give me a practical understanding of God. I began the study of the Bible, in connection with Science and Health, and have proven to my entire satisfaction that Christian Science is all that it claims to be, and that it may be demonstrated by all who "study thoroughly the letter and imbibe the spirit" (Science and Health, p. 495). The nervous condition and consequent manifestations were entirely overcome through further treatment and personal effort, and only those who have been delivered from such conditions will realize what this meant to me and to my family.

Many demonstrations of the availability of God as "a very present help in trouble," have strengthened my conviction that Christian Science is the truth taught by Christ Jesus, and I realize now that only as I live up to my highest understanding of this Science can I express in any degree my gratitude to God, also to Mrs. Eddy, for having gained some understanding of this truth which indeed makes us free from the bondage of material sense.
