For some time I have felt impressed to give a testimony...

For some time I have felt impressed to give a testimony of my healing through Christian Science, as a token of my gratitude and love for our Leader. I was healed five years ago of a complication of diseases. I had been sick for a year, had spent several months in the best sanitarium in the state, and had undergone a surgical operation, after which the doctors said I would be well. Time passed, and as I was no better I returned a second time to this sanitarium and received treatment, but was still no better. After treating me for several weeks, the physician candidly admitted that he did not know what was the matter with me. Then I went to another specialist in another city, and was under treatment for several months, after which I returned home in a perfectly hopeless condition. I had given up.

Just at this stage of helplessness Christian Science was brought to me by an aunt who came all the way from another state to tell me of this healing truth. I had no faith in it, but as a drowning man catches at a straw, I consented to try it. Truly "man's extremity is God's opportunity," for, lo, I was quickly healed. My healing was grand, but it was not to be compared with the spiritual uplift I received through the light of Truth. I had tried to be a Christian. I had been a church-member for years and kept all the rules,—but I got no joy from my religion, and there was always such a yearning for something more spiritual.

It was only through Christian Science that I received that peace "which passeth all understanding." I can never be grateful enough for Christian Science, but I hope to show my gratitude by devoting my liffe to spreading the "good news."—Mrs. Julia DuBose, Washington, Ga.
