Mrs. Mary Baker Eddy must be reckoned as one of the remarkable characters of the world. No criticism as to her teaching can hide the fact that the organization which she founded has come to be a great force for good, its tenets leading those who accept them to live better lives, to breathe a purer atmosphere, to stand for the things that make for morality in men and women.

We may not agree with the teachings of this religion or that. Its tenets may not appeal to us, but every liberal thinker must give his approval to any cult or religion that is conducive to a higher plane of thought and action, that makes for wider humanity. And that the institution brought into existence by the great woman who has just died has done this and is doing it cannot be denied. It embraces in its following men and women of high intellectual attainments, many of the best minds of the day having accepted its teachings, and none who live within them but are humanized thereby.

It is estimated that a million people in the world have accepted the teachings of the woman whose life is ended, and she must therefore be recognized as one of humanity's greatest educators.
