THE LECTURES

Prof. Hermann S. Hering lectured on Christian Science Sunday afternoon, Feb. 7, at Choral Hall, under the auspices of First Church of Christ, Scientist. The lecturer was introduced by F. H. Skeele, clerk of the church, who said in part,—

We hope that each of you may share in the fulness of the joy, health, and happiness which is the heritage of those who live Christian Science in accord with the teaching of the Master. Thirty years ago the first Christian Science church was organized. Its purpose, as stated by its Founder, was "to commemorate the word and works of our Master, which should reinstate primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing" (Manual, p. 17). That this purpose is being fulfilled is attested by thousands, who have been healed from sin, sickness, and sorrow through Christ, through the truth which Jesus taught and demonstrated. We read in the Bible that "Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the Lord is in this place; and I knew it not." Through Christian Science the world is awakening from its dream of a far-off, impracticable, unknowable God, to know Him aright as divine Love, an ever-present help in every need.—Correspondence.
