ORGANIC DISEASE HEALED BY MIND

Even those who declare that matter is real, concede that it is wholly non-intelligent. In itself it does not possess the power of motion; hence matter cannot plan its own states. It cannot rearrange itself, whether in masses or in molecular relations. It cannot carry out any program. If there be any motions or rearrangements in so-called matter, whether in the human body or elsewhere, these changed conditions are the results of mental action; and this is true, even though it be impossible to discern whence the mental action emanates.

If, therefore, there seem to be any abnormal conditions, or any structural changes in the body, these changes are the results of mental action, and being unideal in character, it is necessary to conclude that they are brought about by unideal or erroneous mentality, that is, by the carnal mind, the devil. It is not asserted that these changes are brought about primarily by the thought of the person who is afflicted, but they are brought about, in belief, by general mortal mind, the one evil. It ought to be perfectly plain that if erroneous mentality or false sense rearranges, in belief, the particles of so-called matter in the human body, so as to produce a change of structure known as an abnormal growth or a disease, then the application of true mentality, the right idea, or the truth, should be able to overcome or stay the proceedings of the mentality which is but false belief, undo what it has seemed to accomplish, so that a healthy and harmonious condition shall be manifest where before discord was in evidence.

Since divine Mind is all-powerful and everywhere present, it is natural and lawful to rely on our knowledge and application of this Mind to overcome the supposed workings of false sense and to bring about harmonious conditions of the body. Would it be reasonable to set any time-limits to what the infinite All-power can accomplish when thus applied through right consciousness to the very finite task of overcoming any discordant condition of the human body?
