THE "HIGH AND HOLY PLACE"

Pilgrim, dost seek the high and holy place,
Summit of glory, temple of God's grace?
Art humble, contrite, turning from earth's sin?
Lo! 'tis the vestibule thou'st entered in.
Then is the door before thee, opened wide,
The Christ, the way, the truth that never died:
Have faith in God, no man shall close this door;
Have faith in good, the spiritual, the pure.
Another step remains, e'er thou canst come
Up to the throne of bliss—thy heavenly home;
Step out from sin, and into holiness:
God's love will guide that step, thine effort bless.
