AMONG THE CHURCHES

The Christian Science church of Palo Alto has been growing so fast of late that it has been impossible to accommodate the people in attendance at the quarters it has heretofore occupied in the Madison-Thoits Building. Consequently for some time the church has been looking around for a new location, and has leased the building formerly occupied by the Presbyterians on the corner of Waverley Street and University Avenue. The building is now being thoroughly renovated and will soon be ready for occupancy.—Palo Alto Tribune.

The new building in North Lodge Terrace for the Christian Scientists was formally opened yesterday [Aug. 2]. This is the first place of worship of this denomination in the county of Durham. The building, which is situated opposite the North Lodge Park, has a most attractive appearance from the outside. It is constructed of brick, the walls of the interior being white. On the ground floor there is an organ chamber and a Reading Room, while two rooms to be used as offices are above the entrance. The building has beautiful stained glass windows, is fitted throughout with electric light, and has a splendid system of ventilation. It has accommodation for two hundred people, and cost one thousand pounds.—Yorkshire Herald.
