I am glad to be able to testify to the healing power of Christian Science. I was for many years a confirmed invalid, and was never free from pain in my back. I submitted to four operations, and was under the care of the best surgeons and nurses in the Hull hospitals, but they failed to give me any relief, and I left the hospital more of an invalid than when I went there. The doctor told me, after the fourth operation, that it was necessary for me to have another for ovarian trouble, but he did not consider me strong enough, to undergo it just then. Another doctor told my husband that it would simply be a matter of time, if I did not have the operation, as all had been done for me that could be done. Soon after that we came to live near Beverley, thinking the change might do me good. We then heard of Christian Science, but I was very slow to take it up, after having taken medicine every day for so many years.
I am very thankful to be able to say that since studying Christian Science, I have not needed the operation, and the pain has gradually disappeared. Instead of being a sickly woman and a burden, I am able to do my own housework, also to walk, or to ride a bicycle any reasonable distance, and have not had one day in bed for the last two years, nor have I taken medicine in any form. Heart trouble, also nervousness and headaches, have been overcome, the above ailments having all left me since I began the study of Science and Health together with the Bible. Influenza was overcome with one treatment from another Scientist.
I am very thankful for all this, and more so for the spiritual uplifting. I never understood the Bible before, or knew that its promises were for us to accept here and now, and that God is an ever-present help. I know if I put into practice daily the little understanding I have gained of the truth, I shall in time be able, by the help of divine Love, to overcome all seeming difficulties. I am very thankful to God, and very grateful to Mrs. Eddy for this clearer understanding she has given us of our relation to God.
