For me to attempt to tell all the good that Christian Science...
For me to attempt to tell all the good that Christian Science has done me would be impossible. It is about nine years since I had my first severe attack of rheumatic trouble. I was confined to my bed sixteen weeks, and when again able to sit up I was little more than a shadow. I began mending very slowly. I cannot enumerate the different remedies I used, but I gave them all a fair trial. I was treated by the best physicians in Ohio and Indiana; was at a sanitarium for weeks; in fact, I did everything and used everything that was said to be a sure cure or that it was hoped would restore my health, but all to no avail. I was also said to have a very bad case of kidney and heart disease. I had a second attack of the rheumatic trouble in April, 1906, which confined me to the bed three weeks, and I lost the use of my limbs entirely. My shoulders had been stiff for six years, in which time I never could put my arms to my head. My fingers, wrists, toes, and ankles were all in a terrible condition. I could not turn my head, and sat in a chair for fifteen months. I had not been up-stairs for even longer.
I first heard of Christian Science through a dear friend, who had been similarly afflicted. She had been taking Christian Science treatment, and was being benefited. I took my last dose of medicine Sept. 27, 1906, and my first treatment in Christian Science in October. I began to improve at once, and the following December my sister gave me a copy of Science and Health. I began a diligent perusal and study of the book, and found in it "the pearl of great price." The same month I got my book I lost my appetite for coffee, which I drank to excess. I used crutches for about two months, but now I have discarded them. I go up-stairs whenever I like, dress myself, and I can play the piano again. My fingers are getting straight, I can lie in any position, and have perfect use of my arms. My health is perfect,—I have been healed of the heart trouble, and never feel bad or get tired. I have also a clearer view of the Bible.
Christian Science has been a wonderful blessing to our home. I am indeed more than glad to tell the world of my healing in divine Science. I tried all material remedies without being helped, and my extremity was "God's opportunity."—Mrs. Lucy E. Staley, Englewood, O.
