The press department maintained by the Christian Science...
Rockford (Ill.) Star
[Editorial in the Rockford (Ill.) Star.]
The press department maintained by the Christian Science Church is a worthy type of modern business enterprise. Newspaper men come in contact with no other denomination which so completely and efficiently looks after this department of its work. Whenever publicity of interest to the Church is desired to combat any printed or spoken statement, those in charge are quick to act. Regardless of what may be said, the tireless press agent is always at hand with the other or Scientist side. By that it should not be understood that the Church tends to impose upon the newspaper. The contrary is true. Matter offered generally has a timely and absorbing interest to the public and is usually welcome. After the withdrawal of the case against Mrs. Eddy complete newspaper accounts of the hearing were at once despatched, so that the final word would be said for Science as the incident closed.
Without in any way entering upon the merits or demerits of the Christian Science faith it would be unfair to withhold praise for the perseverance and vigilance with which its department of publicity is conducted.
