I am pleased to acknowledge the benefits I have witnessed and have received from Christian Science within the last seven or eight years. I owe my present happiness and better prospects for the future to what I have learned through the study of the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, as well as the other writings by the same author and the regular Christian Science publications, the Sentinel and Journal. Christian Science has enabled me to understand the Bible better than I had ever done before, or even hoped to. I was brought up in the church of my forefathers, and had passed through the Sunday School and

Bible class with a high standing, but I was not satisfied with what had been taught me. I could not understand God or man, and drifted away from the church, much to the displeasure of some of my relatives and the surprise of my friends. I became a wanderer, attending different churches for several years, but found nothing better than I had left. I heard of Christian Science through friends who had learned of some cures being made by it; my mother also became interested, and later a friend of ours was healed of a severe form of sickness by it, still I continued my wanderings in the wilderness. An aunt of mine became ill, was treated by two prominent physicians, and after a consultation between them she was given up to die. We were told it was only a matter of time, perhaps a month or probably but a few days. How well I remember those days! Every time I entered the house I expected to hear that she had passed on. Christian Science was then called in, and to my astonishment, as well as that of others, she was speedily restored to health and strength such as she had not enjoyed for years.

The time came when I, too, grew interested in Christian Science, and one day, while suffering so much with toothache that I could not attend to my duties, I 'phoned to a Christian Science practitioner for help, and in a few minutes the pain stopped. I could scarcely believe it, and thought it was only a temporary relief, but it proved to be permanent. At another time I stepped on the point of a very large nail, and it entered through a thinly worn part of my boot, piercing my foot about half an inch. In about an hour my foot became swollen and I was in such pain that I had to go home. I sent for a Christian Scientist and the pain was relieved. In a few days I was back at work, and no symptoms of poisoning or other ill conditions were manifested. It was not until several weeks after that I realized how wonderful had been this healing. A swelling appeared on the top of my foot opposite to where the nail had entered. It gradually became large and also black in color. This condition alarmed me at first, but strange as it may seem I felt no pain. Then with a needle I removed from the swelling a small piece of wool, also a bit of leather, which had been carried into the foot by the point of the nail, and they had passed through the foot without any pain or inconvenience and without any of the symptoms usually supposed to take place when foreign substances are in the flesh.
