I should like to tell what Christian Science has brought...
I should like to tell what Christian Science has brought me. The first and most precious thing is that I have found peace.—that peace of which Christ Jesus says, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you." I also see the possibility of following him and obeying his precepts. I had always tried to do this, but Christian Science teaches us how to do so, and that is the principal reason why I adhere to it. I am learning more and more not to fear anything, and if fear or care seem to beset me, my thought soon becomes tranquil in the wonderful consciousness that man reflects divine Mind, and God does not know anything of fear or care. I thank God every day for Christian Science. Through it I have become really happy. In other ways also I have experienced its blessings. For years I had suffered from weak eyes, and as my father had become almost blind, I was afraid of the same fate befalling me, especially as the glasses which I used were no longer of any help. It is now four years since I was healed in three days from this weakness through the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." I now read and work without glasses, although two oculists had told me I would never be able to do without them. Mary other ills have since been overcome, and I have seen the curative power of Truth in both acute and chronic cases, which were often healed very quickly.
I think with great love of Mrs. Eddy, who has taught us anew the Christ-healing, and I thank her. I am filled with joy in knowing that all who follow her teachings are in the way our Master, Christ Jesus, has shown us. The prophet says, "And they that be wise [in the German Bible it is "And the searchers"] shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever." The apostle Peter tells us that "the prophecy came not in old time ["in old time" is not in the German Bible] by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." This is what I think of the teaching of Mrs. Eddy, our beloved Leader.
