About a year and a half ago I became unable to work, and the doctors said I had heart disease, caused by smoking cigarettes. I also had kidney trouble, and rheumatism so bad that at times I could hardly get out of bed. After I failed to get any relief from our home doctor, I went to Wichita and consulted a doctor who was considered very fine, but I got no help. I seemed to be growing worse day by day, and became convinced that the medicine was not doing me any good. On my way to Wichita I had stopped to visit my aunt, who is a Christian Scientist. She told me about Christian Science, and planted the seed of Truth in my consciousness, but not until I got so ill that I could hardly get out of the house would I yield to Truth for help. There were times when it seemed I would pass on, but I finally got help to go to the train, and after a day's ride I reached Hutchinson. My aunt met me, took me to her home, and began to work for me. I slept better that night than for some time; ate a good breakfast, which was something unusual for me, and in a day or two I felt like a new man. My healing was about the last of November, 1904, and from that time on, with the exception of a few slight attacks, I have been well and able to work. In less than a month after I came under Christian Science treatment I was employed by a telephone company, and have never failed to be at my post of duty.
I think my healing wonderful, and I am glad that I have found the truth. I am indeed grateful to God, and to Mrs. Eddy, for the great blessings I have received.
Rufus King, Hutchinson, Kan.
