In passing through many and severe diseases I went from...
In passing through many and severe diseases I went from one physician to another, and they did all they could to help me. I found temporary relief, but the trouble was not cured. Finally, when I had spent my last money for doctors' bills, but was still suffering pain day and night, and knew not what to do, in my extremity I cried to God. Then God sent me Christian Science through two ladies, who wished me well. I asked for treatment, although I did not know what it would be, but I was advised to attend the meetings first, that I might understand something of it. When I went for the first time, I did not seem to learn much, but one thing became clear to me,—that there really is a God and that He does help us. Because of all my troubles, a doubt had crept in, whether there really was a God; for I had prayed and He did not seem to hear me. Through Christian Science I soon learned that God does help us. The more I attended the meetings the more I understood and the better my condition became, not only physically, but also mentally.
Two years have passed since I first knew of Christian Science, and I have needed neither physicians nor medicine. If an ailment appears I can always overcome it by the truth. I am working for my whole family, and I hope they may all be led to the light. I used to suffer much from fear, but this has entirely disappeared. I know that God is with me and that no evil can befall me. My life is very much changed, I can sleep well at night and have found rest and peace. I am very thankful to God for the truth, and grateful to all who spread the knowledge of the truth.
