It is over eight years since the light of Truth began to penetrate the darkness of my awakening consciousness. My primary reason for seeking help through Christian Science was abscesses in the ears, which, aside from being very painful, were causing deafness, so that I could not hear ordinary conversational tones at all. I was in a miserable condition for something over eighteen months, and was growing worse, with no promise of help from materia medica.
I turned to Christian Science with no conscious hope of relief. My husband suggested it, as the physicians said they could do nothing. I had one present treatment and arranged to have absent treatment. In three days I found that the abscess which was forming when I went to the Christian Scientist was gone, and I could turn my head naturally, something I had been unable to do for months; in fact, I was healed of that trouble, and the freedom was wonderful. There were other less painful troubles which did not yield so readily, and some were long in going. I am now pleased that it was so, as I think I would not have sought the truth if I had not been obliged to seek with all my heart. There has, however, been steady growth, and the consciousness of more light. My husband and I have been earnest students, and have found the Bible a book of marvelous beauty and interest when opened with our "Key to the Scriptures." We know that Christian Science is Truth revealed to the understanding, and we are thankful for what we know of the way of Life.
We are thankful indeed for all the Christian Science literature, and the longer we work the more we appreciate our dear Leader,—her wisdom and the magnitude of her achievements.
