A Reply to Objections

Florida Times-Union

Christian Scientists have proved by experience and demonstration that Mrs. Eddy has discovered the spiritual meaning of the Bible, and explained in a marvelous manner the life, words, and work of Christ Jesus, which enables them to be better Christians, to be healthier and happier than they were prior to their acceptance of Christian Science. Why object to this good work?

Our critic says, "It is a good and noble thing to relieve pain and sickness, sorrow and bereavement, and to rescue men from the effects of these things." "But," says he, "it is also un-Christian to relieve them of their money for such services."

If the Christian Scientist who gives all his time to the service of humanity should not be paid for his labor, then why pay the minister, the doctor, the lawyer, or any one else for his labor? However, it is but just to say of Christian Scientists that much of their time is spent in ministering to the sick and needy without money and without price.
