My best expression of gratitude to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy,...
My best expression of gratitude to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, will be to give a testimony of healing, which was the proof required by Jesus from all who believed on him. When placing the screen in a window, the lower sash being up its full height, before I could remove my hand the sash came down with full force. It was a very heavy window, the cut through the skin, which was scraped from the wrist to the ends of the fingers, clear across the back of the hand. My husband having gone to the extreme end of the house, did not hear my call until he came in, which left the hand in that crevice for over five minutes. When he raised the window he asked if I was much hurt. I showed him the hand, knowing that he would not believe unless he had seen it. The sight of it made him wince. I said, "Don't fear, it will be all right." By this time the pain was almost overcome, but the whole back of the hand was a dark red with the blood oozing through. I placed the hand behind my back, and with implicit faith in God to do the healing, realized that He is all power, after which I took Science and Health and read for about half an hour, when all sense of soreness had disappeared. I looked at the hand and all discoloration was gone. I then took the scissors and cut off the loose skin without any sense of suffering. Inside of four hours from the time the window had fallen, new skin had formed all over the back of the hand, and inside of twenty-four hours the appearance was such that no person would have known that the skin had been broken, not even the parts where were the deep cuts.
This is only one of many beautiful demonstrations of the power of God which I have experienced in our home. Words are inadequate to express my gratitude for the understanding of the teachings of Christ Jesus, as given to the world in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy.
