Truth Unchanging
While I was working in the glorious sunlight one morning, the following questions and answers came to me with convincing power. Could you, for one instant, be made to believe that the erring human mind, with all its suppositional forces combined, could change the course of the sun, or stop its beneficent influence in any direction? No. Would you believe for an instant that erring mortal mind could cause the plant, instead of springing upward into the sun's light, to go backward into the cold, dark earth? No. Well, then, is it a greater impossibility for this erring human mind to reverse God's law, or to stay the beneficent and healing power of Truth? Mortal mind cannot reverse or undo the work of God or retard our growth Spiritward. Therefore when tempests rage, if we "put to silence this lie of material sense, with the truth of spiritual sense" (Science and Health, p. 318), we can still hear Jesus say, "Be not afraid," and have this most comforting assurance, "Undisturbed amid the jarring testimony of the material senses, Science, still enthroned, is unfolding to mortals the immutable, harmonious, divine Principle, Life and the universe, ever-present and eternal" (Science and Health, p. 306).
