Bringing in the Tithes

Science and Health (p. 595) defines the term "Tithe" as "Contribution; tenth part; homage; gratitude." And the Prophet Malachi says, "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it."

Now these tithes mean not only the amount we put in the contribution basket, but our presence and our part in God's services; viz., the singing of hymns, testimonies of healing, the repetition of the Lord's Prayer, the responsive readings, etc. Note that we are to bring in the tithes, and not send them. Are we truly and faithfully bringing in the tithes? If so, the reward will be greater than we can ask or even think, for "no thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly."

"But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver."
