Christian Scientists take the whole promise of immunity...

Maple Rapids (Mich.) Dispatch

Christian Scientists take the whole promise of immunity from disease, but not in the spirit of bravado that a critic suggests. It is related as one of Jesus' experiences that the devil came to him and taking him up on to a pinnacle of the temple said to him, "If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down." Jesus' reply was not one that suggests encouragement to mortals to yield to the temptation.

Paul shook off the viper which had fastened upon him and felt no harm, so the Christian Scientist of to-day has been, and if living the full understanding of his teaching will be, protected in all times and places where duty calls him. To drink poison or to handle reptiles in bravado would be to mock God, and would deserve punishment.
