The readers of Der Christian Science Herold may be interested to hear from some one who has used the Bible and Science and Health for eighteen years as the only remedy, not only in sickness but in all other conditions.
In 1884, a well-known lady from Denver, Col., was healed of blindness in the city of Chicago. She brought home this wonderful truth and I, her adopted daughter, was only too happy to learn what had healed her. In 1885, I had class instruction, and since then I have seen the Cause of Christian Science grow step by step, and have learned that we must daily make unconditional surrender to God. The nearer we live to God, the more we can accomplish.
After the third lesson in our class instruction, I awoke during the night with an attack of croup, which, as had been its habit, came upon me without warning, like a thief in the night. A member of our family came to me and inquired what she could do. My first thought was that I must have light, for darkness seemed to increase the fear of choking. Then came the thought that now was the time for me to prove the truth of Christian Science, and so I asked for its help. After a short struggle I fell asleep, and when I awoke in the morning, it was as though I had passed through a dream. I went to school as usual, and during the day passed an unusually difficult examination. The trouble never returned.
