I would like to tell how the almighty power of God saved...
I would like to tell how the almighty power of God saved me the night of September 25, 1903. I am working in the postoffice at this place. I had just closed the office for the night and started for home. I was on a wheel, and as I rode up the street I passed a dog which came after me, trying to catch my foot. My attention was turned to the dog so I did not see a carriage that was coming toward me, and the driver of the carriage was talking to a person in the rear seat, therefore neither knew the other was coming. Just as I looked around I saw the team not more than two or three feet ahead, and as we were both going at a good rate of speed it seemed impossible to stop.
I never once thought of danger, my first and only thought was that with God there are no accidents. We crashed into each other and I was thrown over on the ground, the team, and front wheel of the carriage passing over me. A moment later I found myself holding to the carriage wheel, helping myself out, and in another moment a crowd had gathered and some one helped me out. I was, to mortal sense, out of breath and could not speak for a few seconds. When I regained my breath I told them that I was not hurt. I was not the least bit excited or nervous, either at the time or afterward. I got into the carriage by myself, rode home, got out of the carriage and walked into the house without any assistance. I was not at all injured, while the bicycle had spokes broken in both wheels and the handle-bars turned entirely around.
People unacquainted with Christian Science called it a miracle, but those who have studied Science and Health know it was the power of omnipresent God that helped me through. I am very thankful for the many blessings and comfort which Christian Science has brought to me.
