I should like to express the gratitude I feel for what Christian Science has done for me. I first heard of it about six years ago through a friend writing me and telling of her own and her husband's wonderful healing. She asked me to try it for myself, assuring me it would help or heal me, also giving me the name of a practitioner in our town.

At time there were no services held here. I had only heard the name Christian Science about three times and never gave it a second thought. I heard Scientists spoken of as a sect that thought they could get along without medicine or doctors. I of course thought it absurd and was taking medicine by the wholesale, with the hope getting better and stronger. As far back as I can remember her I was a sickly, delicate child, something always seeming to be wrong. I am truly thankful that Christian Science came to me at the time it did, for I surely needed the help. I had nearly every ill that flesh is heir to,—catarrh, chronic bronchitis, and lung trouble,—the doctor saying one lung was in a bad condition, and of course arousing great fear of the dreaded disease, consumption.

I could not take a long breath, and trying to do so was accompanied by a sharp pain. I could not sleep well because of a weak, aching back, and I was glad when morning came. I had stomach trouble and fear of eating certain things. If I ventured to eat things that my appetite craved, there were bad results. I had worn glasses for over six years for astigmatism, one eye being in such a condition that I could not read or sew for any length of time.
