The Fair Exchange of Values
God's people certainly are entitled to live. Jesus said that the laborer is worthy of his hire. Paul taught that if he administered in spiritual things he was entitled to reap their carnal things. Surely God's people are entitled to live respectably, they who are doing His work. It is not intended that they should be paupers and beggars, and it certainly would be commendable if every minister of the Gospel, all editors of the religious press, and all other people devoting their time to His service in various lines, could lay hold on God's promises as Christian Scientists are doing and begin to lift themselves and others out of poverty as well as sickness. Jesus' life clearly proved there should be no lack in this line as well as all others.
Christian Scientists are appreciative of the achievements of the race in every avenue of thought,—in discoveries, inventions, art, and science. They are grateful for every step of progress, and appreciate the many hardships endured by our fathers, which seemed necessary to bring about the blessings we enjoy to-day.
