The Ever Present Help
To know truth is to become possessed of her every achievement.
Paul must have apprehended this in its fulness when he said, "That I may know him and the power of his resurrection." To have the mind of Christ is to inherit Christ's dominion, his finished work.
We have thought much of Jesus in his historic perspective. The uniqueness, the chivalry, the splendor of his daring and sacrifice have appealed to us and we have rejoiced in his overcoming. But though impressed by the picture and moved by the appeal, the "historic Christ," has been too distant, his setting too spectacular, his individuality too separate to satisfy the heart or supply all our need. We long to apprehend Paul's assurance when he said, "The word is nigh thee, ... even in thy heart," and it is to this experience, this knowing of the Master, that Christian Science brings us.
