Impressions Received in a Christian Science Service

There is nothing new under the sun! The old is ever new again after certain periods of time have passed and when mankind has, to some extent at least, forgotten the existence of the thing that presently challenges its attention in some other shape.

Forgotten arts are reinvented,—rediscovered,—and in this wonderful age of advancement, where the telegraph, telephone, and electrical science generally has revolutionized the age of steel and steam,—making easily possible the seemingly impossible,—when thoughts of love or business are printed in an imperishable form almost before they have emanated from the busy brain that conceived them and transmitted across oceans and around the globe in an instant of time, what is there new or exceptionally strange for the human mind to contemplate?

Profoundly does the scholar bow to the click of almost thought-endowed machinery that transfers his burning thoughts to paper and into book form while yet the theme is but partly developed in his inspired mind and burning soul.
