Understanding

Five years ago Christian Science brought to my consciousness a beautiful and new light. Ill health with its innumerable fears and discouragements was cast out, and with health and a new understanding of life came a peace I had never known before. The continued study and application of the Science has not only resulted in great mental and physical freedom, but a consciousness of greater power to do, to plan, and to execute. The opposition of friends seemed a cross, but Truth sustained and directed my feeble footsteps, bountifully supplied all my needs, destroyed fear of lack, and gave me a glimpse of real life.

Truth is unchangeable and everlasting. True success must be the result of the understanding and demonstration of Truth, which is power. "Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law;" and Job says, "To depart from evil is understanding." "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus," and if the same mind surely the same results, and this is the only way out of this labyrinth of error. This one Mind, this secret place of the most High, this perfect protection and rest so beautifully pictured in the ninety-first Psalm, is the kingdom of heaven within us of which Christ spoke, and we may become conscious of this kingdom here and now. This is the price: To think no evil—to know only good. Christian Science uncovers error and lo! much which we have been taught to believe good and true we find to be evil and utterly false. Science and Health is the pickaxe with which we clear away this rubbish. Get it and go to work and you will find the kingdom of heaven within you.

Science and Health says, "There is nothing difficult or toilsome in this task, when the way is pointed out; but sincerity and persistence alone win the prize."
