In the spring of 1895 a few friends met at the home of one of their number one Sunday afternoon to read the Bible-Lessons as given in the Christian Science Quarterly. We continued meeting at the same place for a time, until seven of us decided to organize a Bible class and rent some place in which to study the lessons. We accordingly looked about and found the Grand Army Hall convenient and so rented that. Word coming to have the Bible and Science and Health our only preachers, we were obedient to the word and elected two Readers, one of whom is our First Reader at the present time.

In the spring of 1896 we organized as a church with eleven members and continued meeting in the Grand Army Hall, where we also from this date held our Wednesday evening meetings.

The next two years, our numbers increasing, we began to look about for a better hall and found pleasant quarters in the Hughes Block, where also our reading room was located.
