Testimony Meetings
The Chillicothe (Ill.) Enquirer
The first speaker was a young man who had been healed of pulmonary trouble to which several members of his family had succumbed. He spoke of what love meant to him and how we gain such an idea of the compassionate love of the Master that we, too, are able to break fetters for ourselves and others. He had scarcely seated himself, when a woman arose and told how for fourteen years she had been in bondage to the same belief of consumption, and during this time she had one hundred and eighty-seven hemorrhages. She had been examined by physicians and by one of New York's best specialists, and had taken most powerful remedies, but gradually grew worse. Last spring she was attacked with appendicitis and went to one of our best hospitals and was informed that an operation was necessary. Very seriously objecting to the use of the knife, she said she would return later, if she felt she could. It was at this time that a friend handed her Science and Health, saying she had not read it, but she heard it healed people. This proved to be correct, for in ten days she was a thoroughly well woman from reading and assimilating the Truth in that book.
The next speaker was a woman who was asked why she confined her reading to Mrs. Eddy's books and put aside books on mental science which contained much that was beautiful and helpful. She told her questioner that she had tested all that mental science stood for, and although she had seemed to be physically benefited she was not healed, and how the text-book of Christian Science had brought out the healing on all lines and she knew it was the Truth.
The next to follow was a young Jewish woman who said she belonged to a most orthodox Jewish family, and for six months after she had been healed in Christian Science she feared to say anything about it, but later the way opened to her and now her entire family were in this thought. Her mother came here for class instruction, and last summer, when she returned to her home in Cincinnati. she healed a man in one treatment of a severe case of paralysis.
