"Jingle-Jangle."

From an article republished in the Sentinel of August 9, from the Morning News, of Savannah, Ga., it appears that the Rev. Dr. Jordan, in a recent sermon, spoke of Christian Science as being "mere jingle-jangle." It appears further that the learned doctor had reference to the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker G. Eddy.

The doctor's compounding of words turns our thought to Paul's famous similes in I Corinthians, 13: "Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity [love], I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal."

If love be absent, either on the part of author or reader, speaker or hearer, mere words are as sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal, or, as our friend puts it, "mere jingle-jangle."
