Healed Physically and Morally
I became interested in Christian Science in February, 1895. A Scientist called on us frequently, and during the general conversation he always managed to touch upon Christian Science. To please him I promised I would read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," provided I could borrow it, as I did not care to spend three dollars for a book of that kind. The first night I had the book I surprised myself very much by reading till the morning hours, something that I never before had done. I became so interested that I found in a few weeks I was able to put off my glasses, which I had worn constantly for three years for astigmatism. After I began to read Science and Health our first child was born, naturally under the care of a doctor. Although I had only been reading for about four weeks, it appealed so to my reason that my wife agreed with me to discharge the doctor and let a Scientist take charge of her case.
My wife had been up and around, but was ordered back to bed for another three weeks, all the while suffering greatly, and it was this suffering, together with my slight understanding of Christian Science, that caused us to do this. It is enough to say that the suffering soon ceased, and the three weeks was reduced to three days.
I had been subject to headaches and biliousness for ten years, and these complaints have both disappeared.
