Work by the Way
Christianity teaches that we should do good to one another; and when we have planned to aid a brother in any way, it is not much trouble to carry out our purpose and we enjoy giving the assistance needed. But what of the intervals between these times of planning to do good? What are we "doing by the way"?
Once Jesus was accosted by a ruler of the synagogue, Jairus by name, who requested Jesus to come to his house and heal his daughter. Jesus planned to go, and started at once. It is said, as he went, he was pressed on every side by the throng of people.
In this crowd, a woman, who had spent all her living upon physicians and could not be healed by any, pushed her way to where Jesus was, thinking if she could but touch the hem of his garment, she would be healed. She accomplished her purpose and immediately her "issue of blood stanched."
