The Lectures

The address of Judge Clarkson of Omaha on Christian Science last Friday night (March 30) was listened to by an audience which nearly filled the Opera House. The exposition of the doctrines of Christian Science was very clear and forcible. What may be regarded as the fundamental principles of the belief—the unity of God and man, the consequent spirituality of man, and the control over disease according to the promise to all true believers—were dwelt upon at considerable length. The whole lecture was deeply interesting and will no doubt do much to dispel the misapprehension which has existed regarding the doctrine.—Canon City Times.

The lecturer was introduced by Judge M. S. Bailey of Canon City, Col., Judge of the District Court, who spoke as follows:—

Ladies and Gentlemen:—I have been invited to perform the pleasant duty of introducing the speaker of the evening. I esteem it a privilege to have an opportunity to address this splendid audience even in an incidental way, but I am especially gratified at the invitation tendered because otherwise it is possible I might have entirely missed an address from which I feel sure I shall derive great pleasure and profit, and it cannot be doubted that all of you who will listen will also derive like benefit and advantage therefrom.
