When Christian Science was presented to me I had just passed through a siege of material beliefs, under the charge of materia medica. I had the constant care of a trained nurse for a year and a half, under the supervision of one of the best allopathic physicians of the city in which I resided. He tried all the latest methods in his efforts to overcome the troubles which seemed to resist all his efforts. At length after a year and a half he advised my being taken to a medical institution, where he hoped for better results. There, under the best care, I gradually regained enough strength to be able to attend to my own wants. In about six months I returned home, not well, but able to take care of myself.

Some of the former symptoms returned, and my physician was called upon again. He said there was nothing more he could do for me. He had tried everything that materia medica offered, and I must just bear the pain and hope for it to wear out.
