What is News?
The Rev. Charles M. Sheldon , a prominent clergyman of Topeka, Kan., will have entire control of the Topeka Daily Capital for one week, beginning March 13. This unique feature of journalism in which Mr. Sheldon will dictate the policy of the paper, edit its news columns, and control its advertising, is for the purpose of affording him an opportunity to demonstrate the policy he would pursue in the publication of a Christian daily newspaper.
In 1895 Mr. Sheldon edited one issue of the Topeka Mail. In that issue he published the following editorial under the caption "What is news?" His work on the Capital will doubtless be in accordance with the views expressed at that time.
What is news? In other words, what ought a daily newspaper to furnish its readers?
