"There is Health for You"
That was the welcome message brought me, after years of suffering and despair, by one of our dear Mother's loyal students. How sweet those few simple words sounded—those words of Life, health, and Love!
I had been a constant sufferer for almost nine years from diseases the most complicated and mysterious; I had tried nearly everything known to medical skill, and had employed twenty of the best physicians in this and other cities. I had undergone two severe surgical operations, tried electricity, etc., all to no purpose. It was deemed best to take me South hoping the climate would do for me what medicine could not.
A consultation at Chattanooga, Tenn., with its leading physician, revealed the fact that climate had proved a failure and hope had now nothing, not even a reed, to lean upon. My husband was kindly advised to take me back to my northern home as soon as possible. The medical verdict was that my lungs were about gone. The diseased condition of the spinal cord had caused paralysis of the lower limbs. For three years and four months I was unable to walk. For many months I lay completely helpless. As my decease was daily expected, on reaching home I arranged with as much reconciliation as I could command, to place my little daughter with kind friends.
