Heart Trouble and Influenza
Last March, while attending the last of several Good Friday services which had been held during the day at his school chapel, my eldest boy was suddenly taken with a very severe attack of heart trouble attended with fainting, terrible sounds in his head, darkness, and breathlessness. He does not know how he got up and left his place in chapel, but his one thought was to get his Science and Health which was kept in a locker that had the lock out of order. He kept saying as he went, "God is All, God is Good. He didn't make this, it is not true." At first he could not see or feel well enough to get the locker open; but he finally got his book, and read until he was able to go to bed and sleep naturally. The symptoms went down one by one, and next day he wrote home, "Mother, I can only say that Christian Science and Science and Health saved my life last night, and I am thankful."
He had been troubled somewhat for several months, and he was now on the eve of competing for the first time in the annual athletic sports at this school. His schoolfellows had often urged him to consult a doctor. How thankful I am that he was firm in his refusal to follow their advice. A doctor would have ordered him to abstain from hard exercise for two or three years. He had help for a few days from a Scientist, and when the day of the sports came he won two cups; competing with boys of fourteen (his own age) up to sixteen years of age.
Any Scientist will know what are our feelings of gratitude to Truth when we look at those two silver cups.
