In The Mother Church
A gentleman from Colorado gave the following testimony at the Wednesday evening meeting in the Mother Church last week.
We have many evidences of the spread of Christian Science influence both as to longitude and latitude, all over the world. My testimony will relate to the higher altitude where I found it this summer, having occasion to stay at a hotel in the Rocky Mountain region. I wrote my name on the hotel register, and while the landlady, who performed the office of clerk, assigned me to a room, I turned my attention to the show-case, usually containing cigars. tobacco, and frequently cards and dice-boxes. This little hotel is in a small town. Possibly all the inhabitants could find room in this house. It is the county seat, and at this time the town was full of jurymen and witnesses. In times past it has been my pleasure to see the leader of this meeting there attending to his professional duties.
A show-case always tempts the eyes, and I must say that I never looked into a show-case where my eyes were so rewarded as in this. In that show-case were no dice, cigars, cards, or tobacco. The floor of it was covered first with an open Bible; second, the Christian Science text-book, Science and Health; third, "Miscellaneous Writings;" fourth, the Christian Science Journal; fifth, the Christian Science Quarterly, and there were besides these Christian Science tracts
