A summer of mental shifts
Two years ago, I had the incredible opportunity to serve as the Leadership Training Coordinator at a camp for Christian Scientists.
This role was a significant responsibility, and my primary goal was to foster a safe and nurturing environment where each camper could thrive.
One of the most challenging—yet rewarding—experiences of the program was leading a multiple-day trip with my campers. I had never led a trip that involved camping out overnight in the woods before, and it was daunting. I was overwhelmed with anxiety and self-doubt, coupled with a persistent headache and fatigue. The thought of climbing high hills seemed almost impossible. But I felt that I had to push through for the sake of my campers.
