Government under God

Live audio chat with Mary Alice Rose, C.S.B.

Mary Alice begins by saying that government is more than elections and politics—at its most fundamental level government is really about God's law, authority, control, power, and sovereignty. The Apostle Paul says we need to be "bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ" (II Corinthians 10:4,5). And in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy says, "Man is properly self-governed only when he is guided rightly and governed by his Maker, divine Truth and Love" (p.106:9).

Mary Alice shares several biblical examples of politics, corruption, and interactions with government, including the experiences of David, Joseph, Daniel, and Jesus. She answers a variety of questions, including: How to pray about conspiracies and governments that spy on their citizens; how to be reassured that God is still governing after a major US Supreme Court ruling; how to deal with the fear of corruption; what can be done when you have suffered an injustice by a governing body; what about the intermingling of religion and politics; and what a "government under God" should look like.
